LCE4ROADS is a European project financed by 7th Framework Programme, aimed at encouraging research and development (Grant agreement no. 605748, 02.10.2013). The full title of the project is "Development of a novel Eco-labeling EU-Harmonized methodology for cost-effective, safer and greener road products and Infrastructures".

The aim of the project is to develop a methodology for LCE4ROADS, combining principles of Life Cycle Engineering with an approach based on indicators, which take into account the environmental, the economic, technical and social aspects. The developed methodology and tools to serve for the assessment of existing and planned road projects using defined indicators - KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Each of the aspects will be classified from the most efficient (A) to the least efficient (G). The result will be easy to identify the classification of eco-brands of the most environmentally friendly (AAA) to the least ecological (GGG). LCE4ROADS will be awarded only to roads and infrastructure products that have minimum required value of each indicator. LCE4ROADS will be an innovative and comprehensive method of eco-labelling, and infrastructure marked with LCE4ROADS will be more cost-effective, clean and safe for the environment.
